MH3: News from the US Chapter and EU too
It’s all over the place already, so forgive me my lazyness for not linking appropriate sources.
Monster Hunter Tri has now a set street release of 20th April in the United States, 23th April for the Europe and Australia. It will be offered in several bundles, incl. Wii Speak and Classic Controller Pro packages. The online fee has been scrapped, playing online will be free.
Also starting on 8th March you can get a demo disc in the US at every GameStop without preordering. Free for pickup.
The US GameStop preorder bonus will be a 500pts Wii card.
The official MH3 page is open now, with lots of cute info and that Ironbeard dude spoiling your day.
Up our Sleeves…
What do we have there?
Well, actually quite a lot. Ranging from not-thought-through ideas to full-fletched mind-boggling awesomeness. You don’t believe that?
Regarding the Data Section we have created: There is a number of unfinished projects which you might as well expect to happen in the not so distant future. Here’s the list (both as a teaser for you and a reminder for us):
- The Armor Shop will be renamed to Skill Sim because a real shop will be introduced. Put in everything you always wanted in the game and you’ll get a nice shopping (say farming) list to work through. This should help you keep the numbers of your BigEDragonJewels in check.
- Speaking of farming, we intend to complete the gathering spots next. This does only happen due to the awesome dedication of one person, which goes by the name HotGamerMum on most forums and boards. She is inputting all that heavy data which she shares with us and we gladly use. My biggest and heartfelt thank you.
- The monster data is going to be next. Hitpoints, damage charts, stagger limits, all you can think of. This, too, is a daunting work so don’t expect it online tomorrow.
- The Weapon Calculator will then be redone with the data section in mind. It will be more accurate, it will consider more potential hitspots and it will reflect the game mechanics as closely as possible.
- I intent to design a ranged weapon calculator. The math behind it has been revealed by DaiIchiban and VampireCosmonaut on gameFAQs, and I feel obliged to put those tenacious numbers to good use.
- One huge data lump will be missing for quite a while: Quest reward data. We rely on HGM here too, but she can only do so much with her already limited time. When it’s done, it’s done.
- Az and Draco are working on a skillset generator. I have tried and failed (my MHF version will not work with the jewels and all that), there has been one in Excel using a limited version of a professional linear solving tool, but that needs more install-fu than you’d bother. So, I will not interfere with their thinking process and when they do come up with a working algorithm I’ll be happy to code it.
- Everything we’ve done will be ported to MH3. I have the guidebooks, the only thing keeping me away are those interesting foreign symbols…
- Also: See the Holy Hell a lot of Stuff! widget on the right for some information on what item data we still need to feed into the database.
You see, we have quite a lot going on. Check back every now and then or you may miss the next e=mc2.
MHFU keeps rollin’
Capcom started the Encyclopedia Gigantica. It looks like it is their effort to bring the community together as it promises user registration, article rating and creation.
You will be able to write your own dedicated guides for the given monsters, rate the weapons and so on.
Also Yama Tsukami is revealed as is Ukanlos. Head over there and take a look around.
Next up is a viral style promotion video found on youtube. Nice effort they are putting up now. Let’s hope it falls on fertile ground.

The Kurubekko has appeared
As shown in a ingame video of MH3 (the demo?) one of the new monsters is showcased named Kurubekko.
Additionally Rathian makes a cameo appearance and, well, it takes you away. Also nice: Torch action.
Thanks, Snow_Infernus.

Nothing about MHF:U ….
MH3 is coming. To us.
GoNintendo published the following:
“There is no significant change in Capcom’s strategy, and we will primarily release game titles for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. In addition, we plan to release our leading titles overseas to acquire game users, as the overseas market for Wii is extensive. One of our leading titles is ‘Monster Hunter 3 (tri-).’ If we can gain recognition of this product in the European and North American markets, our market strategy will see a noticeable change. Meanwhile, we are reviewing the possibility of releasing new titles besides ‘Ace Attorney’ for Nintendo DS.” – Capcom statement
I haven’t found a confirmation at any Capcom site yet, but let’s just believe that goNintendo wouldn’t publish anything like that without proof. So let’s welcome MH3 soon!
