MHF2: Weapon Calculator
The Weapon Calculator MHF2 Edition
Instructions:
Choose the monster, your materials availability and the weapon line you’re interested in. If you want you can also select various armor skills you intend on wearing.
Press Submit and you will see the weak spot and the preferable weapons based on their damage output against this particular wyvern in descending order (best one first).
How this works (please read):
This is all about finding an average hit. The code takes each weapon’s possible attacks and calculates them in realistic numbers. This means for example with Longswords that it takes some slices, some stabs, some spirit-gauged attacks, meshes them all together and calculates the average hit. In the case of LS 176 different attacks are used.
The printed damage number is this average hit. If you would take the health of a monster and divide it by this average number, the result would be the number of hits needed with this particular weapon to kill the given monster.
The higher the average hit, the less attacks are needed and the better the weapon is.
New (02/04/2008): Powercharm and -talon are added to the equation if you select HR3-6.
Weakspot:
Average Damage: Name
Some remarks:
- The damage displayed is only an estimation, you cannot use it for stagger calculation. Its use is to show the margin between weapons.
- If you select HR3-6, Powercharm and -talon are automatically added to the equation.
- Status ailments are being considered this time. Paralyzed monsters take 10% more damage so that can effect the damage output. Poisoned monsters receive 120 to 350 points of damage per poisoned state, so I figured that in too. Both ailments give now a marginal boost to the damage output.
- Sharpness is fully figured in.
- Affinity is fully figured in. Changed:Affinity now plays a larger role, especially negative affinity on heavy hitting weapons (GS, Hammer). Expect Tigrex weapons to be worse.
- Armor skill like Reckless Abandon and Sharpness+ are not considered and may change the resuls.
- Hunting Horn notes are not considered as permanent damage increasing buffs.
- Gravios and Basarios open stomachs are considered as a potential additional damage spot.
- Gun Chariot is degraded to green sharpness since it only establishes 8 pokes before going green.
- If you find any error or omission, feel free to comment it right away. I probably have some HRs wrong and probably some attack spots too.

You do know that Onslaught can be obtained at HR1 right?
September 26th, 2007 at 7:20 pm
nice. this is very usefull I’m looking forward to the other weapon lines
September 26th, 2007 at 9:42 pm
I think the Red Khezu list is wrong. I don’t believe its weak to FIre, but its showing alot of fire weaps. Check it? Other than that, great calculator.
September 27th, 2007 at 2:09 pm
Looks like Diablo Chao Broker kinda does the best damage at most of the bosses.
Questions, aren’t element damage > raw?
September 27th, 2007 at 4:32 pm
Corona, for Onslaught you need Union Ore and this is HR5.
September 27th, 2007 at 8:21 pm
how come the only weapon line is hammers
September 27th, 2007 at 9:51 pm
Note Preview
Gonna Add Bows?
September 27th, 2007 at 9:52 pm
Nah. No ranged weapons probably. They are a different league.
September 28th, 2007 at 8:30 am
Khezu (Red) is fixed. However, there are no water SnS at HR1 so the 5% damage taken from fire edges some fire weapons out. Tehe.

September 28th, 2007 at 4:29 pm
Fresh, are you sure Agito is an HR1 weapon? Where do you get Hard Monster bones from at HR1?
September 28th, 2007 at 5:03 pm
Oh, I forgot it requires Union ore. Thought it was Carbalite, but then again, it’s been weeks since I upgraded, so I guess I forgot.
September 28th, 2007 at 6:15 pm
I’ll correct Agito, thanks slain.
September 28th, 2007 at 7:46 pm
sorry, im just asking. isnt kirn afraid of dragon? more than fire?. because his amour set shows that dragon -1, and fire is 0. well im just asking..
September 28th, 2007 at 7:50 pm
= Kirin =

Excuse the formatting, but you see Dragon at 5% and Fire/Water at 15% for Head. Armor values give hints but no precise resistances.
September 28th, 2007 at 7:52 pm
oh sorry, pardon me. thanks anyway =)
September 29th, 2007 at 10:59 am
Yayz, I hulped.
Is that even a word?
September 29th, 2007 at 12:59 pm
man this getting better and better cant wait till hunters horn they are my fav with LS now
thanks again im sure this will serve many well just as the first weapon calc did
September 29th, 2007 at 8:36 pm
good job with the calculator i just hope all is correct so i dont end upp with weapons i dont need
i hope to se weapon charts and armor pictures
September 29th, 2007 at 9:01 pm
found a bug!
Akantor Blade (~292 dmg) in LS should be akantor katana
cuz akantor blade*s are duals =D
September 29th, 2007 at 10:30 pm
Thx, fixed.
September 29th, 2007 at 10:48 pm
hmm now when you change the hr thingy, when you pick a monster, then a hr, and klick on show me top 10 it will reset the hr back to 1-3 if you have picked like 4-6 :p
September 29th, 2007 at 10:58 pm
Oops. Fixed.
September 29th, 2007 at 11:06 pm
Wyvern Katana Maple should be change to
Wyvern Blade “Maple” LS
=) thats what i found in GS and LS
i dont know shit about the rest weapons so i cant help you there!
keep up the great work and i hope to se armory, armory pictures with names and weapon charts
maybe a suggestion: a bit more structure on site, i kinda get confused when klicking around, “is this mhf1 stuff or mhf2″
September 30th, 2007 at 3:56 pm
Wow this will be awesome when it’s finished, it’s great already.
Nothing to do with the calculator but why are LS so much better against chameleos, I hate LS
September 30th, 2007 at 5:56 pm
Fresh, No matter how many times I check the calculator using hammers against various monsters, War Basher never shows up.
It has Higher attack than Onslaught Hammer and the same (I.E: Blue) Sharpness.
At least, that’s what http://home.comcast.net/~wepon1984/MHF2v0.5.htm
Is telling me.
September 30th, 2007 at 5:57 pm
Well, It does show up sometimes, but it’s always lower than onslaught, which is apparently weaker than it.
September 30th, 2007 at 6:43 pm
as usefull as the one was for mhf =]
September 30th, 2007 at 7:51 pm
@slain: War basher barely has blue sharpness, I’ve listed it as green. Unless you are going to use a whetstone every four hits, it has no blue.
September 30th, 2007 at 7:52 pm
k
September 30th, 2007 at 10:06 pm
In my eyes and brain.. I cant see why
true dragon’s jaw always ends up before
siegmund in the calc?
Siegmund(GS) Attack(1056) Shp(Blue) Def(+10) Crit(+15%) Slot(1)
vs.
True Dragon’s Jaw(GS) Attack(1056) Shp(Blue) Slot(2)
September 30th, 2007 at 10:19 pm
It’s sad that you count Siegmund as green shrp, In my opinion one of the best gs in the game ^^
great calc tho
October 1st, 2007 at 1:55 pm
I took a second look at Siegmund and I think I can rank it as being blue sharpness. Look for your fav weapon rising in power!
October 1st, 2007 at 10:07 pm
Nice
and that it now shows the sharpness is great 2!!
October 1st, 2007 at 10:09 pm
sry for posting 2 times yesterday did see that first now!
and thx for the great calc forgot to write it in the above post!
October 1st, 2007 at 10:42 pm
I’d like to point out that Dual Tomahawk+ has only yellow sharpness. You have it listed as green.
October 1st, 2007 at 10:52 pm
Also, there’s no reason for Legendary Replica to ever beat Flaming Pair (238 raw, 100 Dragon, Green). Put in Monoblos, Duals, HR1-3, and somehow Legendary Replica makes the list, yet Flaming Pair doesn’t, even though they have the same raw and sharpness and Pair has an element.
October 1st, 2007 at 11:14 pm
Nice. It’s cool to see the finished product.
I’m guessing that bows and gunlances aren’t chartable in the same way as melee weapons, since their use is heavily based upon their ammo usage, and charge abilities.
October 2nd, 2007 at 7:06 am
Sorry to harp on this, but after a lot of research using your calculator, I don’t even think you have Flaming Pair in your Dual Sword list. It never comes up for anything.
October 2nd, 2007 at 7:54 am
Tomahawk sharpness fixed.
Flaming Pair fixed, I had it at HR4-6.
Agito fixed to HR4-6.
Tactical Blade moved from HR4-6 to HR1-3.
Figured in the rage, armor and terrain modes of Fatalis, Akantor and the elder dragons.
October 2nd, 2007 at 1:04 pm
WOW!
Excellent job with adding the armor skills!
That just made my day.
Along with fixing Tomahawk and Pair, of course.
Good to see you pay attention to your users and the comments made on your board.
I love that.
By the way, is fresh the new SeleniaAngel? Is it the same person? Selenia used to take care of all the things that you, fresh, are taking care of now. Just curious here, because I know SeleniaAngel still exists on the MHF2 boards because that user name just answered my question yesterday. (Which, just for chronological reasons, was 10/01/07)
October 2nd, 2007 at 1:17 pm
fresh = seleniaAngel. I’ve split personalities, seven at least.
October 2nd, 2007 at 1:38 pm
lqtm….nice.
Seven is a lot though. Might want to check into that.
In any case, thanks for being helpful, answering questions, responding to issues, and making this weapon calculator. It’s not often that you find people who are skilled at this game AND don’t have a huge ego about it.
October 4th, 2007 at 5:44 am
wow this is getting posts way faster than the last weapon calc
yay finished thanks alot
suggestion: i think you should put weapons in a order like they are in the shop
GS, LS, Sword, Duals, Hammer, HH, Lance, Gunlance
i think thats the order
October 4th, 2007 at 2:38 pm
Hey, just noticed another error. High Twin Dagger is actually HR5 and above. It comes from Sm Ancient Stone, and the first time you can get Ancients is from Ash Lao in the 4-5 Urgent. Of course you can get Ruststones before then, but Ancients are G-class.
October 4th, 2007 at 2:57 pm
Fixed. Thanks demonfire.
October 4th, 2007 at 3:37 pm
Khezu Gunlance calculator is wrong. The best HR 1-3 on it is Lunas roar not Lunas howl , I made Lunas roar before I was HR 2. Great job by the way.
October 4th, 2007 at 3:40 pm
Also I know affinity is not included in the calculator, so I suggest Imperial Gunlance and Grand slam over Rex blast (even though it does have blue sharpness).
October 4th, 2007 at 3:44 pm
I meant “affinity is”… “but I suggest” my head is not working right today. PS. Sorry for posting 3 times in a row XD.
October 5th, 2007 at 6:55 am
Luna’s Roar fixed. I don’t know if I understand your suggestion on Rex Blast??
October 5th, 2007 at 5:55 pm
Oh, what I meant was if you were to fight any monster and your choice was either Rex Blast or Imperial Gunlance go for the Imperial. Because the Rex Blast blue sharpness sucks(low amount) so then you have affinity -30 which makes it worse IMO than the Imperial. Just what I think, I suppose its higher ranked because of the spread type shot?
October 6th, 2007 at 6:06 pm
I just made a damage calculator for this game (based on DS31’s formula)
Download:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=48G78L0V
Would you be interested in putting this up on your site?
October 7th, 2007 at 6:47 am
yeh but we need to pay to use the site that ur file is on =\
October 7th, 2007 at 6:51 am
woops my mistake but there is no medium attack up for HH
and what does the *2 mean?
October 7th, 2007 at 8:06 pm
Fresh you have Silver Rook as having 150 dragon element, it should be 250 instead.
October 8th, 2007 at 4:43 am
It would be interesting to see the effects of artisan calculated in with all these weapons.
But that would take a lot of work, and I’m too lazy to test out artisan on all the final level weapons, let alone make all of them.
October 8th, 2007 at 6:37 am
Whoops…
my mistake about the med attack up.
about the “x2″, I think I’ve heard somewhere that HH buffs stack once.
anyway:
More buffs than necesarry > fewer buffs than necesarry.
New version here with some fixes:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SSLH02G2
October 8th, 2007 at 11:53 am
your new one still has HH sttack up medium, and yes sttack is what it says
HH dont have medium attack up!
October 8th, 2007 at 11:42 pm
Will you add Bulldrome to the monsters list?
October 9th, 2007 at 10:50 am
1. I’ve fixed that problem once and for all now. No medium attack up from HH. And no typos as far as I know
2. I cant find Bulldrome in the hitzone charts of Deathslayers guide, so bulldrome will probably not be added
October 9th, 2007 at 10:51 am
Soory for double post
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=91XBVK3G
I hope it’s right now
October 9th, 2007 at 6:09 pm
Why go through all the fuss of trying to use the calculator off megaupload when theres one here staring you in the face.
October 9th, 2007 at 8:43 pm
Why go through all the fuss of trying to use the calculator off megaupload when theres one here staring you in the face.
1. it’s offline
2. It can calculate stagger limits.
That calculator isn’t necessarily meant to determine what weapon does the most damage, but rather precision
October 9th, 2007 at 8:50 pm
Devta Serpentblade(450/450 Poison,Blue)
No lance comes with 450 raw attack, 437 or 460.
Skies of Crimson lists the lance with 368 raw and 450 poison
October 9th, 2007 at 10:46 pm
1. it’s offline

Oh okies.
October 9th, 2007 at 10:50 pm
how do you get sword fan gabas you have it as a long sword
October 10th, 2007 at 7:06 am
yeh arnis one get exact damage for attacks
thanks arni im loving it

October 10th, 2007 at 3:43 pm
uhh, fresh, can u add sharpness+1 to your calculator.
the devil slicer have white sharpness in sharpness+1
October 10th, 2007 at 3:44 pm
true devil slicer, sorry for double post
October 10th, 2007 at 5:52 pm
Taken from a Rathian HR4-6 Query:
1 Akantor Katana(1200,Green) (~81)
2 Divine Slasher(1104,Blue) (~75)
3 Smolder Dragonsword(816/520 Dragon,Blue) (~75) 4 Gaelic Flame(1056,Blue) (~75)
I was just wondering how Gaelic Flame and Divine Slasher do exactly the same average damage when their sharpness’ are the same, but their Damages are so disparate.
Although I do see why Smolder Dragonsword does the same; the first one just doesn’t make sense; unless it turns out that it’s just ’cause they both had 75.[something] and it just got roudned down.
October 10th, 2007 at 6:30 pm
@slain: Affinity on Gaelic Flame.
October 10th, 2007 at 11:12 pm
Plesioth with a Hammer for HR 4-6. I looked this up and i do not see the Sanctioned Gunhammer (832atk, 500fire). When you look up khezu for the same you get sanctioned Gunhammer as 4th. Even though they both have -4 to fire. I was also seeing that in many cases 100 or raw damage to any weapon outweighs 150 200 or even 300 more with fire damage. Why?
Ex: Khezu, Hr 4-6, Hammer, Lunastra crown(936atk, 370fire) overpowers Sanctioned Gunhammer(832atk, 500fire) even though the damage difference is about 100 in favor of the Crown, but 130 in favor of the Gunhammer.
This Shows that damage is way better than elemental .Why?
October 11th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
I’m currently more dead than alive. I cannot sit before the screen for more than 2 minutes, then pain knocks me out.
I have some serious issues with my back right now, that is why I don’t post and respond currently.
I’m reading everything though.
October 11th, 2007 at 8:23 pm
fresh, get a laptop.
And I wish you’ll be better soon
October 13th, 2007 at 10:00 am
@hendrik: Sharpness +1 will probably not happen since every weapon behaves differently when this skill is activated.
@forte999: Sword Fan Gabas is a MHP2 only weapon, from downloadable quest.
@arni: I will host your calculator as soon as I’m able to spend more time before the screen.
@Codani Mo: Please read up the Melee Damage FAQ to get insight into the mechanics.
Fixes: Devta Serpentblade
October 13th, 2007 at 10:21 am
Hey fresh welcome back. Better now?
I was just leaving a post wondering in the “some remarks” list it doesn’t mention that Gunlances have the shelling figured in. ‘Could’ this be added in future because I find shelling a big part of using a Gunlance and could effect the list greatly.
Thanks.
October 13th, 2007 at 2:52 pm
Oh found a fault. Tigrex Gunlance has white sharpness not blue ;-).
October 13th, 2007 at 4:36 pm
If u consider war basher as weapon with green sharpness u should consider akantor katana as weapon with yellow sharpness becouse the amount of blue(war basher) and green (akantor katana) is the same. So in both cases u can rely on their top sharpness unless u wanna sharpnen every few hits…
October 14th, 2007 at 10:24 am
I’ll amend the sharpness values of many weapons soon. You will be noticed.
October 14th, 2007 at 10:53 am
So fresh, any word on Gunlance shelling being added in to the equation.
October 14th, 2007 at 10:55 am
Will ponder it.
October 14th, 2007 at 5:37 pm
Thanks.
October 15th, 2007 at 1:44 pm
New mistake: Blizzard Gunlance has 150 ICE element damage; where you have it listed as Water.
Was testing it on Green Plesioth, Big Slugger isn’t on the list, even though with 460 Raw attack (Which I’m sure far outweighs 150 Ice damage against Green plesioth) And all that poison seems to more damage… I’ll have to check the FAQ.
October 15th, 2007 at 1:54 pm
Scratch that last comment, Blizzard Gunlance has been proven quite emphatically stronger.
October 17th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
Bizzard Gunlance corrected. Fixed sharpness values of Hammers and Horns (miniscule blue and green is degraded, added some white ones).
October 18th, 2007 at 7:32 am
Complete results as a scrollable list.
Fixed sharpness values for SnS and DS (notably Golden Falchion / Corpse Blades demoted to green).
Fixed sharpness values for GS/LS and Lance/GL.
October 18th, 2007 at 8:37 am
good work fresh that list will be helpful im sure but i think that akantor katana shouldn’t have green sharp
October 18th, 2007 at 5:53 pm
Um… How do I scroll down the list?
All I get is a nearly uninterpretable block of text.
October 18th, 2007 at 6:20 pm
Ooh! New Error!
HR4-6 Hammers Vs. Green Plesioth; On of the results is “Tigrex Hammer”.
A) I think this has been confused with the Tigrex horn, upgraded from the Striped Dragonga
B) If it has, it’s not a hammer.
October 18th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
Scratch that, I Didn’t know there was a Tigrx hammer.
Turns out there is O_o.
October 18th, 2007 at 6:29 pm
Scratch that, I Didn’t know there was a Tigrex hammer.
Turns out there is O_o.
October 18th, 2007 at 7:33 pm
The Tigrex Gunlance still says blue sharpness. It is white ;-).
October 18th, 2007 at 9:28 pm
Two shells or four hits with Tigrex Gunlance and its blue. I’ll keep it that way.
October 18th, 2007 at 10:30 pm
OK. I like the new list list format by the way, it’s great.
October 20th, 2007 at 9:46 pm
you got the golden falchion’s sharpness wrong: it’s blue, not green
Anyway, great work guys!!!
October 27th, 2007 at 3:25 pm
This sucks i was killing black gravios with sakura recorder.
If u click on Black gravios, HR 1-3, Hunting Horn
and the top 1 is sakura recorder and i died.
October 29th, 2007 at 10:16 am
Affinity now plays a larger role, especially negative affinity on heavy hitting weapons (GS, Hammer). Expect Tigrex weapons to be worse.
Golden Falchion: It’s has miniscule blue, therefore I consider it green.
October 30th, 2007 at 4:26 pm
zichu having top weapon doesn’t have to mean u r gonna win this battle:P (there are some other things required)
November 1st, 2007 at 6:30 am
there is a prob for me i cant access the damage calculator. It says required some download, can any1 help please?
November 1st, 2007 at 11:16 am
If you are talking about arni’s calculator you need some microsoft component in addition. Here:
I think most people’s problem has been the .NET Framework 2.0 the program’s complied in.
I know it sucks, but try downloading this:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:41 am
Hey Fresh.
Just wanted to let you know that Blazing Falchion is an HR1 weapon. You have it listed in HR4 and above.
