The Weapon Calculator
What’s new:
Lord Grahf has done it again. He has revised the damage formulas for Monster Hunter Freedom and discovered some minor differences to the ones of Monster Hunter PS2. Since I had used MH data before, I have now created this new version of the calculator to reflect these changes. The old calculator is located here with all the comments attached.
The major change is in the SnS line, which now really favors raw damage.
Instructions:
This one is really easy to use. Choose the wyvern, your HR, the quest level and the weapon line you’re
interested in. Press Submit and you will see a ProTip ™ and the preferable weapons based
on their damage output against this particular wyvern in descending order (best one first).
Status elements such as poison or paralysis are not taken into account. The PBA or the Expert
Sword for example are very good weapons but they will likely not rank very high in the
results since the specialized (elemental) weapons are almost always better.
So if you are looking for the best all around weapon for your rank and style, use your brains.

but with the status effects surely no poison is worser than some poison

why is enforcers axe rated so low it has same raw as divine slasher and it oly has a little bit more blue sharpness i no it will be hard to take into account though =/
Enforcers Axe has sucky sharpness and the results show that way.
Hi…ive been reading the comments and the calculator and i have to say its pretty good…i work with my friend all the time weve helped eachother from hr1 to hr5 and there has been some really funny kills…
Black diablos: this was the first time we tried black blos… he was usin full blue los with garuga helm to give high earplug and quick sharpen (not sure exact def.) and shining wyvern blade … i was usin a variety to give me sharpness +1 and autotracker 117 def. and frost edge+
5 min left on the clock…still got pots and stuff…wailin on him with sonics and flashes…1min left…still wont die…supplies delivered…he grabed sleep knives and i grabbed bombs…our plan was to try to sleep and bomb him…so…diablos digs…i throw sonic….he comes up…Death(my friends name, mines Cloud) throws sleep knife…*All monsters have been slain!*…we were like…WTF!!…most shameful kill in all of MHF history…but i got my black tempest and i was happy
i think fatalis is impossible to kill…me and my friend cannot kill him…i was usin the full gun blue los cept blackbelt vembraces and coffee pants to give me high grade plug and autotracker 77 def and dead parasol (BEST lightgun in the game if u ask me…324 attk pwr WITH dragon S and clust lvl 2)…he had full blue los cept garuga helm to give high ear plug (again…not sure about def) he was usin maelstom+ (not too bad…but another friend had crimson fata gun armor wich has rapid fire wich makes this gun perfect for that armor)
i used 53 clust lvl3, 99 normal lvl 3, 99 normal lvl 2, 20 dragon, 60 fire, 60 pellet lvl 3, 9 crag lvl 2, and over 200 normal lvl 1…Death used 53 cl lvl 2, 60 pel lvl2&3, 40 pirce lvl 2&3, and prolly about 200 normal lvl1
used all that ammo after 50 min…still didnt die…any tips?
Another shameful death was when we were versin a plesioth…I hate plesioth…is it me or is plesioth just a pain to kill…anyways…Death was usin the thunderbane+ (the one right before KBI…i cant remember) and full basarios U, while i just got my dead parasol so i had to use it with my half blue los and BB braces and coffee pants…because its really my only gunner armor…i no…its sad…but anyways…we go start fightin plessy…about 15 min in fin goes down…she runs to jump back in water…does her little “walk-in-place” and at the exact moment she jumped Death hit her foot and killed her…so mid jump she flopped in the air…came down in the water but instead of goin in it was like the water was solid and she laid on top of it…but the problem was…we couldnt carve…i want too mad…but Death was cuz he needed top fins and scale+’s to make the maelstom+
if any of u know a link or somthing to someone who has a bowgun attack formula…plz post…cuz i wanna try to figure how much dmg im doin with my dead parasol compared to the eternal strife against fatalis
im sorry to say this but aren`t eternal schisms better against crimson fatalis than dual dragon ultimus?
Don’t be sorry, you are probably right. But I have no solution for this so far. The armored mode of Fatalis is what throws UH&E off.

OK I need some help. Ive done every elder quest except lao and i need some help to beat it… My weapons r plessy watersword..crimison war pike……Bable Spear…..Wolf blades….Sieglinde……Redwing…and melting wail. Ive tried every thing please help. ive cheked every web site for info but it doesnt help.
BTW i am only hr 1 and am also working on the HR1/2 Four Horns
umm…I noticed a few things…at first it seemed like GS were severely underpowered..but then i noticed you had it set to only 1 hit, Y? all the other weaps get more than 1 hit in there…Y MUST EVERY1 HATE GS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t compare the weapon damages between classes, it does not work. The calculator ranks the weapon for each class, not crossing the boundaries.
ic, kk, but it really threw me off, i wanted to see what would be best weapon class, cuz iv used GS all my Hunter career, but everywhere i go they say they suck cuz they’re slower than some of the others…so i wanted to see if i could do more damage with a new weapon style

Hey all im back been a few months =] waiting for MHF2 now, aint played in ages.
Loshunter u need advise on fourhorns? alot of people get stuck on this, theres many weapons u can use but most importantly use Flash bombs Sonic Bombs Large barrel bombs u get my drift use ur itesm wisly an u will ace it mate!
Have you forgoten about Oblieon? or is it just crap, surely it cant have been added to the list if its not in the top 10 for Fatalis (with elder weapons)
LosHunter get the corona its also good for getting ready for Golden Falchion (both SnS)

I have a question, i’ve been looking at the calc and noticed that best DS are usually the ones without elemental damage, i regret getting the guild knight sabers, xD. The question is: why? why?!?!? I’m mad getting those hornet razorwings for the insector slicer. I believed that pure crystal was the hardest to get, aside rubys >__
guild knight sabers look nicei nguild armour set tho lol =] im like that im wrkn on every greatsword thats the best going quite well so is my Dual sword ones.
SWB does more damage than Both ES with the ultimate combo listed in an faq in gamefaqs

Hey LosHunter, I have some suggestions for your Lao battle. I think hammers are the best weapon for him. Lances would be my second choice. As for a specific lance or hammer, I would say Expert Hammer for hammers, and Growling Wyvern for lance. I am pretty sure these are both available at HR1. Regardless of which weapon class you choose, you’ll want to focus your attacks on the saggy part of his belly. Triple pound combo with the hammer, and use the upthrust, upthrust, backstep with lances. If you find yourself close to the legs after a combo with hammer, be sure to roll back into position under the belly because he can hit you with his tail or step on you. Be sure to keep an eye on where he is on your map, and get out from under him before he leaves the area. On your way out be sure to watch the tail! After it sweeps toward you book it for the exit. Hope this helps!
P.S. – After you destroy Lao you open up a great challenging quest called Wyverns of Land and Sky. If you thought Lao was hard, this quest will own you hard. Don’t worry though, like everything in this game it just takes practice and patience to beat it. And the reward is Shining Wyvern Blade, one of the best short swords in the game.

i dnt understand y the calculator has jut told me to use a fire sword and shield against a hard quest basarios. i thought basarios were weak against water? can someone explain this to me plz
