And we all know that E3 is the place for the gaming companies to present their next years lineup. Pair that with the current uprise of CAPCOM’s twitter, facebook and blog activities regarding Monster Hunter.

I’d wager to say that this is a hint of some updoming release of Monster Hunter beside the iPhone exclusive ripoff.

Now CAPCOM, port it to Android.

Another newsbit came out just now. CAPCOM Japan is porting MHP3 to the PS3, seemingly without changing anything in the game.

Well, I don’t know if this is good or something since the PS3 has so much more potential than the PSP, but well, shall we complain about everything?

In a surprising move CAPCOM just announced the revival of the Monster Hunter series in Japan with Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting.

After PS2, PSP and Wii the game now comes to the only one gaming platform which can be called that, a gaming platform (j/k): The iOS systems.

Enjoy: Health bar. Hitpoints. And bullet-time animations.

I guess some of you guys read my jQuery plugin post the other day. This plugin is to be used and inserted by webadmins. Now what if the admin of your most loved site isn’t able or willing to do so?

No problem anymore. I’ve created a bookmarklet based on that jQuery plugin which does the same for you on every page you are visiting. You only have to select the text you want to translate and hit the bookmarklet.

First of all you need to take the link below and drag it into you shortcut bar or simply add it as a bookmark.

MHP3 Translations

By clicking on that bookmark (or selecting it from the menu) and having some text selected you will get a small popup showing all possible translations for that text. As of now, mostly item names and monsters. Hover over the popup to make it disappear.

And that’s it.

Technical details: The bookmarklet loads an external script from RotR which then queries the database via JSONP and plugs the result into a prepared container. Easy as that.

I’ve updated a bunch of quest data in the MHP3 Data Section, namely lots of HP values and starting areas. G1*-3* is finished, the other quest levels still have lots of gaps to fill.
Anyone wanna help? It would seriously speed things up for me ;-)

There have been several information pages made public after the release of MHP3rd in Japan. Most of them use the Japanese symbols to refer to ingame texts, some of them have their own translation and others use the patched names of the various patches floating the web. If you search for information about an item or a weapon in the game you have to know some of the more common translations for it to get all possible infos available.

This is a mess. Because of that and because of a recent discussion with VioletKIRA, who expressed the same opinion, I have decided to create a jQuery plugin which will, once enabled on a webpage, allow for instant translation of a game text in all available patch and official languages.

Of course, there are no official languages except Japanese right now, but that may change. When MHF3 gets a western release, this plugin will display all official languages too without the need to change anything on your webpage.

So, this thing is for webmaster or administrators of websites, and I'm looking at MHF3.com, minegarde and Dojho right now.

Installation Instructions

This is a jQuery plugin. jQuery is an excellent, if not the best, javascript library enabling you to write less and do more (which happens to be the catchphrase of jQuery). In fact, it does exactly that. So for my plugin to work properly you need to load the current jQuery library, in the head of your webpage, like so. It is very possibly that you already have it in your CMS:

This loads jQuery from Google CDN taking advantage of the caches of your clients. Additionally you'll need the plugin itself to be loaded too. I recommend to load it in the footer, but you can also include it in the header. You either download the file and put it on your server or load it from mine like so:

Prepare your HTML

For the plugin to work it needs something to identify the to-be-translated texts. This can be a class on a span

<span class="tobetranslated">Mega Potion</span>
or all table cells like

<td>Mega Potion</td>
or whatever uniquely identifies those texts for a jQuery selector.

Now you need to initialize the plugin the jQuery way which is done by these few lines. These initialize the plugin once the document is fully loaded, you can initialize it on any other occasion you like of course.

});
This small snippet looks up all html elements with a class of "tobetranslated" and initializes the plugin for all of them. If you want to initialize for all table cells, use a selector like this

$("td").rotrTranslation();
And thats it. You can see it in action by hovering on those two questions in the first paragraph on this page.

I am constantly uploading new and/or completed translation whenever I get hold of them. You, as the webmaster of your site, don't need to change anything for those new translations to work, they will be provided automatically. If you use the script directly from RotR you will also benefit from potential updates and features.

Feedback is important as only with proper critc improvements can be made. Use the comments, please.

Conclusion

I hope by introducing this new feature to the community that all those questions will be answered once and for all. However, it will only work if the admins of the pages are aware of what is offered here. So if you are a user on a given page and would like to use that site without all localizations in mind, give the admin a nudge and point them here.

Since I’m able to hold several translations for the data tables I’m providing I’ve decided to entertain any language patch for MHP3.

The goal is to provide a easy to use lookup table for the translated item and the native version, in case one wants to look up information in the internet but does not know the original name. Starting version is to be found under Generated FAQs in the data section.

If you’ve created a localization for MHP3 like TeamHGGs, be it in German, Russian, Spanish or a native Australian one, please send me your translation tables in Excel or ODS format. It should contain the Japanese original, which I use for the matching, and the translation.
Also send me a small symbol representing your patch to be used alongside the language flags. Take a look at the data section to see what I mean.
