I’m not dead!

But I'm not dead?

No Sir, I’m not dead yet. I’m buried in work and daily chores right now, but I have not forgotten about my little pet page. In fact I’m moderating the MH3 section daily, as it is kinda busy with 5-15 comments each day.

If you have something to say about RotR or have an idea what I should do next (when I get some spare time to invest), you let me know, right?

Admit Defeat?

The Monster Hunter Wikia page has become something really really good. It started awful some years ago and for a long time it didn’t look promising.

But under the regency of Bobofango the content and presentation really went stellar. I applaud you guys.

Well, that being said, I spent this week thinking about the benefits I can add to the data already provided there. The data on the MH3 Wikia is well presented, it’s very complete and structured, you can get every info you want with a few clicks. However, it’s a static presentation, so linking must be done manually and you can’t aggregate the data (like I did for MHFU).

Still I am unsure if these aggregations are so much more useful that they warrant the considerable effort needed to create databases, tables, functions and last but not least, raw data for those tables. What do you guys think? Shall I provide another data outlet with similar or slightly enhanced benefits than the Wikia or shall I not bother and instead focus on calculators and other tools?

Think you know it all?

Why don’t you test it? Bazzurd made up a quiz with no more than 50 questions, so you will be through in less than 30 seconds if you are as good as I am. HAHAHAH

Nice work!

Let Him Speak Now or Forever Hold His Peace

Ok, I keep hearing from mysterious bugs, failing scripts, bad-written code and all that stuff on the tools from RotR. As I’m only one person and I can’t test everything with every browser I need your input, feedback or criticism whenever you encounter a misbehavior.

Please use this post to bring forth your issues regarding the functionality of the Data Section (please specify which part fails for you), Weapon Recommendations and the Adhoc Widget. Also please specify your browser name and version, without that I can’t do much.

OK, I got the Message

My decision to link to two places for Monster Hunter seems to have irritated some. Well, here’s a comprehensive linkage array for you to browse through. I hope I’ve forgotten nothing.

GameFAQs and Minegarde are linked in the menu bar.

Forums:

  • Capcom Unity. Normally a nice place, with some kids not growing up.
  • Capcom Europe. Much better and generally nicer.
  • Neoseeker. Can’t skip that. It’s uneducated though and some information held there is stolen or wrong.

Information sites:

  • Encyclopedia Gigantica: A huge effort by Capcom in creating this, but it ended as one of the most irritating and misleading sites.
  • MH Wikia: It’s getting better and better. It’s worth a visit.
  • MHFU Wiki: By Grahf, so you know everything is up there is correct. In limbo.

Breaking News

UK – The monster hunter community weeps at the tragic loss of two of its most renowned active and helpful men. Both had a long and successful history promoting the game and ensuring the continuous growth of in-game wisdom and data. Their collaborative work culminated in the late rise of the fan-created website RotR, something which “Would not have been possibly without those two!” according to bereaved site owner Fresh.

They have been found shot at close range in the airport level of CoD:MW2. Both leave mourning women behind.
