CAPCOM announces MHFrontier for iPad

In a somehow totally surprising move CAPCOM announced another iPhone/iPad related release of one of their major franchises. After Street Fighter and Megaman they have decided to finally bring Monster Hunter to the touches of your fingers.

Demo of Espinas on the iPad

Controls are done with swiping and pinching commands. The hammer pounds for example are simple taps followed by a swipe to the golfswing. There are no virtual joypads, item use will be done by tapping on the inventory.

They state that the whole MMO aspect of Frontier will be transported to the iPad. Support for the OpenFeint is included. It’s available for download in the App Store at the iPad launch date for $29.99, making it the highest priced title in the iPad store as of now.

Initative for buying an iPad? No more needed for me!

Edit: Oops, did I post this on the first of April?

Capcom JP announces MHP 3rd

It seems that it will have a mix of MH3 content and MHP2G as you can see lots of MH3 monsters and Tigrex, Naruga and at least two more monsters previously unknown. Also real infrastructure is rumoured (as always).

Slated for release later this year in Japan.

UPDATE, from Sonsaru on gameFAQs:

* Weapons are GS, tachi, hammer, SnS, twin blades, gunlance, hunting horn, lance, bow, slash axe, light bow and heavy bow, as reported. All of ‘em! * Infrastructure is in. * It definitely isn’t Tri. * Village is called Yukumo. * Village chief is a beautiful, middle-aged woman (or “cougar”) * Recepcionist is very cute – so what’s new? * Mixed sex hot spring * Lots of very oriental touches * Includes the gorge area from MHF. * Monsters are Lightening Wolf Dragon Jinouga, Aoashira, Gaava * No underwater. * Many things that are totally new to 3rd. * Monsters from Tri will also appear. * Weapons have been considerably changed. * Not as many quests as P2G, but more than P2. * Armor uses the skill points system. * You take 2 cats with you. * You can customize cat armor. * Cat weapons can be cut or hit damage. * A new communication element is added to deepen multiplay. Still a secret for now. * You can use Kanji and other Japanese alphabets for character names (until now they were only in English even in the Japanese games) * No carry over from P2G. * All of the “promises” that a MHP game must keep, will be kept. * P2 is not the base of the game, much of it has been totally remade. * Monster movements and graphics have been greatly improved – images of the village, forest and volcano do look quite a bit nicer than P2. * They want you to be thinking – “Can they really have this many monsters moving with this quality of graphics? And you can do this too…?!” * Q – Does it feel like Tri to play? A – It isn’t P2G or Tri, but something new. * Cat Village is out in August.

RotR’s MH3 Engagement

Some of you have already noticed that in the background of RotR the Monster Hunter Tri pages are shaping up. While I don’t have game data uploaded and accessible right now, the real estate framework for presenting those and commenting on them is almost ready now.

I’m completely recreating the site, stepping away from WordPress. WordPress is awesome when you have a blog and it surely can contain lots of static content, but for all this dynamic stuff I’m doing it’s starting to limit my ability for aspired gorgeousness.

On the MH3 site there will be a User Section (you’ll have to create a new login apart from the login you’ve used on RotR’s main site) which will feature achievements, a What’s New section and access to new comments on the community pages. Notice the bolded will. It’s not completely finished yet.

Speaking of community pages there will be a fresh view on the forum. Take a look and use it for commenting already.

Basically this three sections are now working and can be used. Why don’t you guys take a look and make yourself comfortable on the new upcoming world dominating MH3 site? (Excuse my illusions of grandeur…)

The Avatar Creator

This is the Avatar Creator. It has been announced some time ago and basically is not related to MH3. Still it’s the first new tool on the new site.

The Main Portal

This is the main access portal to the site. Every available tool will be presented here with a small description of itself. Also there’s the countdown clock ticking already!

The Community Wall

And finally this is the community section. I have dubbed it The Wall, as it basically is a pinboard of some sorts enabling you to pin notes on it or make follow ups on already existing notes. As it gets crowded I will look into note selections based on time, randomness or whatever seems reasonable. Every visit here will show you a different view, so check back often. Also, new comments or notes since your last visit will shop up in your user center (not yet), so you can keep track of your activities.

Enjoy the new world.
