Ye olde Armour Shoppe

Has reopened with even more usefulness:

  • It sets a cookie to be saved during sessions. Add some parts, get lunch, sleep, do a world-tour like Rathalos. When you come back, it’ll still contain your last selection.
  • You can print the contents to get your shopping list ready. There’s a small Print link at the end of the first line. Will be a button soon.
  • And you can open your last selections by entering the shop via the huge unmissable button on the Armor Tab.

Love you too.

Today’s work on the Data Section:

- You can now select gender and weapon type for the armors.
- You can search for a particular armor skill by selecting it
- You can hover over the amor skill names in the result to get an verbose description of the potential resulting skills. Props: Azrael for entering and verifying the descriptions.

The entire Armour database is finished!

A historic moment – the first Monster Hunter Freedom Unite armour database has been completed.

I would like to sincerely thank the members of the MH community who made this possible, namely:

Protect your Brains

Laudatio:

I applaud Azrael and his league of helpful and kind people. who have been able to almost finish the FULL input of ALL armours in MHFU. We are talking 2100+ pieces here. I guess Azrael will list all people which we owe gratitude here.

Well, the first batch of five is complete: The Helmets. They are now online and usable in the Data Section. You can now get the full 400+ helmets listed at once and filter that result using the textbox there.

I will do some search queries later, as the load time for all helmets is a bit daunting. We will see.

Also on there since today are the veggie elder trading lists and the combination list. Click on a item in the helmet section and you’ll see what I’m talking.

Tested with:
Firefox 3.5
Chrome
Safari

IE8 bugs out on the dynamics. Its usable but not pretty. I’ll look into it with a low priority.

All your carves are belong to us!

We’re proud to unveil our latest addition to the data section.

We’ve gathered carve data, capture data, drop data and break data for every last monster in the game and now you can witness the awesome power of our fully functional carve guide!

Simply go to the items tab and start typing in the first few letters of the item you need and select it from the drop down box.

As if by magic a table shall appear with the odds of getting that item from all possible sources.

We’ve collated this from 4 differnet sources (big thanks to Minegarde, the mhp2g wiki, the mhf2 carve faq and the mhfu carve faq), corrected a few omissions and cleared up the mystery of why you can’t get certain items from the 1-2* Guild Hall quests.

While the data is the most complete and accurate source online for all your monster carving needs, there are bound to be one or two mistakes (you should see the size of the spreadsheet we had to enter this into, it’s a whopper!) so please let us know if you spot anything peculiar.

Expect more functionality to come later as we play with our data! We’ve some great ideas for handy tools we’re currently working on.

Query for help

As part of Reign of the Rathalos’ ongoing project, we had almost completed the armour database.
That’s a database of over 2000 armours, with which we could have built tools to select sets, built shopping lists, provided data… But unfortunately something went wrong. The data I used was translated from the Japanese Wiki, and then formatted with various scripts over a very time-consuming process. However there are mistakes.

What I want to ascertain here is how many across the communities (Gamefaqs, Capcom US, Capcom EUR, RotR, Minegarde, anywhere else you know) would be willing to give a little of their time to list some comprehensive armour data.
We’re looking at a lot of data here – everything about the armour. However if we get enough people – just 20 from each forum – we can split it into manageable chunks. Like 40 armours each. If we get everyone – and I mean everyone – it’s going to be about 5 minutes work each.

The work will be centralised and handed out and re-combined by Azrael, Draconacticus, and Fresh. We’ll also do all the work to craft the tools for you on RotR. We have big ideas.
What we also want to do is get everyone to check someone elses work, and submit theirs to be checked in turn, as spelling and accuracy is extremely important (even a space in the wrong place is a PITA). I have an idea for all this.

All I need to know is, are you willing to give a hand?

Please send an email to
armorhelper@reign-of-the-rathalos.com

With your name, your HR and if you are using MHFU or MHP2G so we can send you the batch fitting your version and rank in the game. Also you should be able to use excel. If you can’t, let me know if you have access to openoffice so i can convert your batch to that.

Again this will be sorted out starting monday and I will inform each volunteer later then.

Hall of Shame removed

The former Hall of Fame, a pet project of mine, has been removed from the page. I’m sorry for all those who tried to use that as a indicator for their own skills or as an incentive to get a better time or better score.

For those who haven’t even noticed it yet: You were able to enter your training school times along with a picture of your guild card and get ranked among the best and fastest players.

While being a great idea (yeah I still believe its a great idea), there were no active control scheme on how to spot cheaters. And cheaters we have in there in abundance. I’m tempted to name those just to give them heat on the internetz and I believe that one must be a total jerk submitting a cheated time and then defending it as legit. Well, people told me that would happen anyway.

So, good riddance some of you may say. I’m looking for ways to bring it back, but until then, it’s gone.

Enter the Matrix

So, yeah. Azrael talked about this some weeks ago. We want to collect one tutorial video per monster and weapon and fill it in a huge matrix (can be found at http://www.reign-of-the-rathalos.com/mhp2g-mhfu/video-tutorials/).

As of now, its empty. Please help us spotting the best video tutorials on youtube and tell us where you learned to GS a Tigrex or to LBG Yama Tsukami. The creator of the video will get full credit and we will only link to the video on youtube, nothing else.
Please post here or in the comments over there!

PS: Maze, Fob and Biscuit: Your chance to get in.

Fresh’s Cheesy Tactic of the Week: The Unreachable Corner

This one is tricky and it has only three or four valid targets. Still doing it is swiss cheese and just please don’t. Don’t.

You won't get here, Volgy!

Update on the MHFU Data Section

We are working several hours a day to make the Data Section the place we imagine it to be. Right now we’ve updated it with all weapon trees and a searchable item database.

Weapon Paths: All weaponry is present. It does not have the eye-candy of the established trees, but I guess with the added functionality (which is not at its end yet) this is bearable.
Select Equipment (blue button) and a weapon type of your choice (the pictures). It will load in the page. You can hover over the weapon to see the items needed to create or improve it. Click on a item in that popup to be taken to the item database.

Item Database: You reach it when you click on a ingredient of an equipment or by clicking on the Items button. You can enter a item to look up in the text field, it will present you with the matches according to the words you type. Press enter to see all weapons which need this item to be created or improved. Click on a given weapon to be taken to the equipment screen and see details about that weapon.

Remember: We are working on it. This thing will improve DAILY, either on the data beneath or the functionality you can get. Or maybe both. Check it now and come back to see what’s going on.

Always, feedback is appreciated.
