XBox 360 + CAPCOM = MHFO

CAPCOM Japan just announced (now officially) that they will be releasing Monster Hunter Frontier on the XBox 360 in Japan this year.

What does that mean for us? Currently not much, since MHFO is big in Japan on the PC for a long time now (now with Season 7 and the aforementioned Raviente). But it could mean that they are opening their doors to a wider audience, seeing that the 360 is not the most popular console in Japan, but somewhat big elsewhere.

Also: Punch in Sony’s face?

  • I rekun that microsoft signed this up for xbox to try to take the best, latest MH title, and to pull in our vast, vast community into Xbox.

  • w2k:

i don´t think that´s a big punch in sony´s face… cuz capcom knows that they got a big community on MHFU and they plan to bring MH3 on psp ain´t it ?
who knows maybe it´s gonna be soon announced on the PS3… I´m still dream´n for MHFO on PC in US & EU !

  • Phillip:

well to me it only says that eventually the MH series is going to come to the ps3 because the ps3 is the second biggest console in japan, why wouldnt mh come out for it. thats the way i see it!

  • Needs to be for PS3…
    My XBOX360 hates me…

  • bimpet:

    *face palms*

  • vahn:

the biggest monster hunter fan base are sony users, yet we keep getting screwed by capcom… once they do make a monster hunter for ps3, and if tthey dont they will lose alot of sales, i hope they make it so we can somehow bring our mhfu chars in it, and if not let us keep our equipment at least let us get tickets or money for them again like in mhf-mhf2

  • KFJ:

    Yes! Yes!

My first, second, and third child will be called “Capcom”!

The fourth is still up for grabs, though.

  • Ghost301:

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I just want a freakin US EU announcment holy crap I would pay untold sums of money to play MHFO on an english console Ill go insane if they release this on the 360 only in japan without a US release.

  • HR 9000+:

It won’t be long then till someone hacks the jap version and releases it for us Xbox users with a US patch just like someone did with MH3 for wii. which happened well before Christmas. I’m a Sony fan and want to kick capcom in the nuts for this but they are stupid to release such games on wii and Xbox that can be hacked and abused unlike ps3. if they want to keep their hard core (non jap) fans from US and EU then they will release something good for ps3….I hope.

  • Ghost301: The statement capcom Released so far only states The release in Japan and Asian territories.
HR 9000+: Couldnt agree more. About kicking Capcom.

  • vahn:

wouldnt a pirated version on the xbox get your account banned? like the massive banning they did before.

  • HR 9000+:

Depends, I myself do not have an Xbox but I have friends with hacked Xboxes that have not been banned. On the other hand if they release MHF for Xbox and there is a part of the game that can be played offline…like MHFU and all the others, then I can guarantee there will still be people hacking the game just to play it even if it is not online (IMO its retarded to not play MHF online). Point is Capcom built its fan base in Sony. If they have any thought into keeping their non Jap fans then they will release something for Sony. MH3 is weak and watered down and that’s being released on a casual gamer system. Un like Xbox and other consuls that are geared to more hard core games. Now that Xbox is getting MHF then I can only think that Sony is going to get some type of MH game that might even surpass MH3 and MHF or at least that’s what I hope. But for now we will not know, and that is my beef with Capcom. You made your fan base in Sony, that’s what made MH the game and community what it is today…so why leave your fans and community in the dark?

  • Dangerous beans:

this is actually a punch in MY face. capcom?? CAN WE SEE SOME N.A./EUROPE MHFO ANNOUNCEMENTS PLEASE?????

  • Ak-Fren:

One thing we should all remember is that Xbox and PC aren’t that much different from a programing standpoint. While I do find it annoying that Capcom seems to be shunning their Sony fans it’s not like they’re going out of their way to do it.

Another example, Devil May Cry 4 (also a Capcom game) had a PC release as well as Xbox and PS3 releases. Why release a game that would be awkward to play with a keyboard on the PC? Because they already had it ready for the Xbox, and porting it just wasn’t that hard.

  • Silk:

If MHFO comes to the US in Xbox form and become popular, I really don’t care. This would eventually lead to multiple system versions (PC, PS3, Wii[?]) and all will be well.

But if it fails, I reserve the right to laugh in CAPCOM’s face.

  • Dan:

Im a fan of the Xbox360 and will defiantly purchase it i think it would be great and more “hardcore” if the had split=screen but will have to wait and see

  • Kull:

The fact it’s on 360 could be a good thing. The only thing stopping Capcom from releasing MHFO in NA and EU is the small fanbase, so getting a foreign server wouldn’t pay for itself very well. The 360 is much bigger than the PS3 in NA/EU. The Monster Hunter fanbase would increase more on Xbox.

See, Capcom wants more Monster Hunter players in other countries, so they can get MHFO players. Microsoft wants more Xbox in other countries. If they get in some kind of deal where Capcom gets a server in US and EU from Microsoft and 360 gets full support for the game in Japan, MS, Capcom, and the players all win.

In short: If we’re lucky, the 360 becomes popular in Japan, leading to Capcom getting a free server(s), leading to Monster Hunter Frontier in more countries.

  • Shinkada:

imo whether this is released in the West is entirely dependent on MH3′s sales.

And for that reason alone, as much as I hate MH3, I truly hope it sells well.

  • seb:

i just want to say one thing , if mhfo is anounce for PC or PsP or Ps3 , in won’t be interest by mhfTRi , because Mhfo is like MHfTRi but better .

  • Gage:

I am also very pissed about how capcom is screwing us over, ok ive sat down and aqquired evey us monster hunter title their is and im a long time veteran i even spent alot of money on the limited edition MHFG for psp and I literally love the game to death,,,,,,but that is no excuss to leave their english fan base out to dry >..<

  • DynamicMute:

If it releases for 360 in america I’ll pick up a copy.

But that could be years from now..

  • DJ_Ossmann:

i got a question: if i buy mhfo in japan can i play it on an german or englisj xbox because its japanese but when im plying it on my xbox will it be german or english ?

  • i really do hope they bring MHFO to western United States,am a big fan been playing since OG MH on Ps2. Really looking forward on what they do with MHFO.
